US: Coal Production slumped by 2.2% Y-o-Y 

Steelmint assessed that during the week under review 6-12 October 2013, the overall coal production of US was about 18.9 million shot tonnes (mmst).  There was slight growth of 6.7% in the total production compared to the preceding week and 0.7% higher in the production estimated against the preceding week of 2012.

Coal production in Eastern coast of the Mississippi River amounted to 7.8 mmst and in Western coast of the Mississippi River was 11.1 million metric short tons (mmst).

The country's year-to-date total Coal production 783.9 mmst in 2013 which declined by 2.2% as compared to that of 2012.

Spot coal prices of preceding week October 2013 by coal commodity regions (i.e., Central Appalachia (CAPP), Northern Appalachia (NAPP), Illinois Basin (ILB), Powder River Basin (PRB), and Uinta Basin (UIB)) in the United States.
