US government agency EIA has reported that in the week ended 24th Aug 2013, US coal production totaled approximately 20.7 million short tons (mmst). Coal's production had dropped by 0.4% in comparison to last week wheras, it was 1.9% higher than the production estimated in the comparable weeks of 2012.
Coal production from East of the Mississippi River totaled 8.2 mmst and from West of the Mississippi River it totaled 12.5 mmst.
United States total coal production including Coking, Non-coking, Anthracite is 645.2 mmst which dropped by 3% than the comparable year-to-date coal production in 2012.
