The World’s leading Coal producer, United States’ (US) have produced around 17.9 million metric short tons (mmst) of Coal during the week ended on 8 Feb, 2014(2-8 Feb’14).
Its production dropped by 4.5% in comparison to previous week and 6.7% down from comparable weeks in 2013, reported by the US government agency for the week ended 8 Feb, 2014.
US has produced around 103.9 mmst year to date Coal, including Coking, Non-coking & Anthracite. It’s year to date Coal production dropped by 3.1% comparing to year to date (YTD) Coal production in 2013.
Coal production during the week ended on 8 Feb, 2014 from East of the Mississippi River totaled 7.8 mmst and from the west of the Mississippi River totaled 10.2 mmst.
Appalanchian, one of the major regions for Coal production has produced 5.2 mmst of Coal which rose to 1.3% from last week. West Virginia also produced 1.4% more Coal to 2.18 mmst than previous week’s 2.15 mmst Coal. Mines in Kentucky produced around 1.6 mmst than previous week’s 1.5 mmst.
The major Anthracite Coal source Pennsylvania has produced 1 mmst Coal including 41 mmst Anthracite.
