World’s leading coal producer, United States’ (US) have produced around 18.3 million metric short tons (mmst) of Coal during second week (5-11 Jan) of 2014.
Its production dropped by 2.3 per cent in comparison to previous week and 5.6 per cent down from comparable weeks in 2013, reported by the US government agency for the week ended 11 Jan, 2014.
US has produced around 28.9 mmst year to date Coal, including Coking, Non-coking and Anthracite. Its year to date Coal production dropped by 8.7 per cent comparing to year to date (YTD) Coal production in 2013.
Coal production during the week which ended on 11 Jan, 2014 from East of the Mississippi River totaled 7.6 mmst and from the west of the Mississippi River totaled 10.7 mmst.
United States’ one of the major regions for Coal production, Appalanchian has produced 5.1 mmst of Coal which rose to 4.8 per cent from last week. West Virginia also produced 4.8 per cent more Coal to 2.1 mmst than previous week’s 2 mmst Coal. Mines in Kentucky produced around 1.6 mmst than previous week’s 1.5 mmst.
