Updated: Shah Commission sought clarification from JSPL, Sharda mines

The Shah
commission investigating the illegal mining case has found some mismatch in the
records of the Tensa iron ore mines belonging to the Jindal Steel and Power ltd(JSPL)
in the Koira Mining circle. During its field visit on Thursday the Commission
verified the mining lease record of the company  and found some mismatch between the actual
raising details and the satellite images shown in Google Earth. The Commission members
sought details of the company’s iron ore requirement for its Raigarh and
Deogarh plant and its supply arrangement with Sharda mines. Both JSPL and
Sharda mines have been asked to submit their reply by 17th of this
month. The Commission also visited the Bonail Industrial company mines
belonging to Rungta mines in the Koira sector.

Earlier in the
day the enquiry panel visited the NGuali mines of R.P.Sao and  Nuagaon mines of KJS Ahluwalia in the Joda
mining circle. Officials from Steel and Mines Department, Revenue, Forest and
Environment and Indian Bureau of Mines had accompanied the commission. However
the panel members expressed serious displeasure over the absence of officials
of the concerned mines.
