Updated: SAIL stops non-critical production from Bhilai Steel Plant

Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL) has issued a notice to cut down non critical operations from its Bhilai Steel Plant.

Following operations will continue to remain operational

– BF -1&8 operational , 2 furnaces in hot reserve
– Coke ovens- 5 batteries in operation, 2 batteries in hot conservation
– Sintering plant – 2 & 3
– RSM (Rail & Structure mill), URM (Universal Rail Mill)- in A&B shifts
– BRM (Bar & Rod Mill) in G shift
– SMS (Steel Melting Shop)- 2 & 3

Plate Mill, Billet & Blooming Mill, Merchant Mill, Wire Rod Mill, Steel Melting Shop -1, Blast Furnace- 6 & 7 will be closed down in a planned manner.

The shops will function with minimum in-plant manpower as per the requirement & based on the duty roster prepared by the HoD.
