Power which plays a key role in steel production, has undergone tariff revision in few locations, according to its consumption.
SteelMint has confirmed the same from industry sources and below are the updates received –
Raipur: The industry sources reported removal of rebate & other benefits from 1st Apr’20 which is a total of around INR 0.90-1.40/unit and revised power tariff has now increased to around INR 7.10/unit as against previous of INR 5.80-5.90/unit.
However, few industrialists are hopeful to get rebate by around INR 0.80-0.90/unit in coming days and monthly billing cycle would be near to INR 6.00/unit.
Matter of fact yet to be clear as notification or electricity bill of Apr’20 have not been received so far, as per manufacturers.
Raigarh: The power tariff is the same as against last at INR 4.80/unit in Punjipatra – OP Jindal park. However the supplier seems to increase the tariff after raipur tariffs being revised. Clarity will come after receiving bills, which will be received in the 1st week of May’20, as stated by manufacturers.
Durgapur: The producers stated no change in power tariff and is currently hovering at INR 5.00-6.00/unit depending on the suppliers & load factors, which is the same as the previous tariff.
Rourkela: The government has deferred demand charges on electricity consumption for industrial units & the power tariff is hovering at INR 5.80-6.00/unit. Also sources reported that the Orissa High Court issued a notice to the State Government on a Public Interest Litigation seeking direction for exemption of electricity tariff charges during the lockdown period for both domestic and commercial.
Mandi Gobindgarh: The power tariff for the industrial sector reported to be around INR 6.00/unit which depends according to load factor, as per furnace owners.
Muzaffarnagar: As per manufacturers, power tariff remained unchanged at INR 6.65-7.10/unit. The manufacturers may get a more clearer picture once electricity bills are received.
Hyderabad: The Telangana Government had announced deferment of Fixed Charges on electricity bills for industries during the lockdown period till 31st May’20. However currently power tariff is the same as prevailing earlier at INR 6.20-6.30/unit.
Bellary: The producers have reported power tariff is at around INR 7.50/unit & no revision has been received yet.
Chennai: The manufacturers have requested to waive off minimum demand charges just like few other state governments, to get some relief measures for the steel Industry but unfortunately haven’t received any firm response yet, as per SteelMint sources.
Currently power tariff hovering around INR 6.35/unit by state government & through private suppliers charges slightly lower by INR 0.50-0.60/unit than the state government, as shared by IF/Re-rollers from Chennai.
Mumbai/Jalna: State govt. announced some relief measures on monthly electricity payment for the steel industry along with other industries i:e; to provide subsidy during lockdown.
As per industrialists in Jalna, electricity bill is yet to receive for April month and net electricity unit charge would be near to INR 6.00/unit after subsidy whereas apart from subvention it would be INR 7-7.5/unit.
Goa: Currently the fixed demand charges on power consumption for Industry is at INR 250/KVA, while power tariff is in between INR 5.50-6.00/unit varies according to load and power consumption. At present state govt. didn’t waive off FDC while the bill payment due date for March extended till 15 May’20.
Ahmedabad: There are mostly 2 categories one is High Tension Power (HTP) 4 & 1 under which power consumption varies as per location in Gujarat market i.e. Bhavnagar where most of the mills operate for 8 hours and net power tariff around INR 5.50/unit.
In Gandhidham, medium/large mills opt for HTP 1 with 24 hours and power tariff is reported to be INR 7-7.5/unit.
