United States, the world’s largest Pig iron importer has imported about 710,000 MT Pig iron in July 2017, the fresh released data by US custom showed.
The imports is almost two fold with an surge of 82.05% M-o-M against 390,000 MT in Jun’17. During Jul’17, Russia has exported approximately 57% Pig Iron (410,000 MT) to the nation.
Similarly, an uptick of 73% being reported in Jul’17 against imports in Jul’16 at 410,000 MT.
Coming to total imports in CY17 (Jan-Jul’17), the nation has imported about 3.08 MnT Pig Iron; up by 70.51% as compared to 2.09 MnT in the same preceding last year.
Prior to this, in CY16 (Jan-Dec) the country’s Pig Iron import was around 3.87 MnT & in CY15 at 4.53 MnT.
Country wise:
During July 2017, the largest exporter of Pig Iron to United states was Russia, Ukraine & Brazil which exported about 410,000 MT, 190,000 MT & 70,000 MT respectively.
In CY17 (Jan-Jul) – Russia, Ukraine & Brazil was the major Pig Iron exporter to United States which exported about 1.73 MnT (56.09%), 0.66 MnT (21.42%) & 0.52 MnT (16.74%), respectively.
Presently, the export offers of basic grade Pig Iron are assessed at USD 370/MT FoB Russia, USD 370/MT FoB Brazil & USD 360/MT FoB India.
As per the SteelMint analysis, in the month of July 2017, the crude steel production of Unites States was around 7.07 MnT and in CY17(Jan-Jul) it was approximately 47.73 MnT.
