Turkey’s imports rise 53% Q-o-Q in Q3 CY17, Bangladesh imports elevated more than five folds against imports in Q2 CY17 from USA
USA – world’s second largest exporter of ferrous scrap after EU-28 (Europe) has witnessed rise in its ferrous scrap exports by 11% Q-o-Q in Q3 CY17.United States exported 3.83 MnT ferrous scrap in Q3 CY17 against 3.46 MnT ferrous scrap exports in Q2 CY16.Exports raised by 7% Q-o-Q against 3.58 MnT exports in Q3 CY16.
As per recently released customs data, United States has exported 1.27 MnT ferrous scrap in Sept’17 which were marginally down by 4% M-o-M against 1.32 MnT exports in Aug’17.However, in yearly comparison ferrous scrap exports registered a rise of 18% Y-o-Y in Sept’17 as ferrous scrap exports were 1.08 MnT in Sept’16.
During the first nine months of CY17 (Jan-Sept’17), United States exported 10.31 MnT ferrous scrap with the hike of 13% against 9.12 MnT exports during the same period of last year.
Top loading ports in US for scrap shipping activities were Los Angeles, New York City, San Francisco, Philadelphia, and Boston.
Turkey remains top importer of US ferrous scrap –
US continued to supply the highest share of ferrous scrap exports to Turkey (0.55 MnT, +49% M-o-M) followed by China (0.11 MnT, +57% M-o-M) in Sept’17. Bangladesh imported 0.09 MnT (-31% M-o-M) ferrous scrap and stood as third largest importer from United States in Sept’17.
Other major importers from United States in Sept’17 were Mexico (0.08 MnT, -56% M-o-M), Taiwan (0.07 MnT, -36% M-o-M) and Vietnam (0.07 MnT, +133% M-o-M) respectively. Followed by Canada (0.06 MnT), India (0.04 MnT) and Pakistan (0.03 MnT).
During Jan-Sept’17, United States exported highest 2.57 MnT ferrous scrap to Turkey occupying 25% share of total ferrous scrap exports. Mexico remained second largest importer at 1.34 MnT ferrous scrap imports followed by Taiwan (1.01 MnT), China (0.73 MnT), Canada (0.62 MnT) and Vietnam (0.45 MnT) respectively.
India, Bangladesh and Pakistan continued scrap imports from US –
During first three-quarters of CY17, India imported 0.53 MnT (-28% Y-o-Y) ferrous scrap from US while Bangladesh and Pakistan Imported 0.51 MnT and 0.48 MnT ferrous scrap respectively.
