Ukraine: Zaporizhstal reports 49% yearly increase in steel output in Apr ’21

Metinvest owned PJSC Zaporizhstal released its monthly production figures for Apr ’21. The highlights are given below:

  • Crude steel production increased by 49% y-o-y to 334,400 t. The same dropped by 2.7% m-o-m compared to last month.
  • Pig iron output rose by 31% y-o-y to 362,400 t. However, it fell by 8% m-o-m.
  • Production of rolled products marked 28% yearly increase to 281,900 t.

The recovery in production is attributed to higher production rates in Apr ’21 compared to the same period last year as the blast furnace No. 2 and No.5 were shut for overhaul. The company’s cumulative steel production from Jan to Apr ’21 is recorded at 1.33 mn t.
