Ukraine, the world’s third-largest Pig iron exporter, has exported around 270,000 MT of pig iron in Nov’17, as per recent data released by the Department State Statistics Service of Ukraine.
It seems that the country’s pig iron export continue to boost due to limited availability of Chinese cargoes and at the same time sharp surge in global scrap prices which rose about USD 30-40/MT during Nov 2017.
The exports have registered a rise of 28.57% M-o-M in Nov’17 against 210,000 MT in Oct’17. Prior to this, on monthly basis in Oct’17 it increased around 24% against 170,000 MT in Sep’17.
Coming to total exports in the duration of CY17 (Jan-Nov), the nation has exported about 2.10 MnT Pig Iron.
United States continues to remain the largest Pig iron buyer of Ukraine –
In the month of November 2017, United States has imported approximately 45% (120,000 MT) of Ukrainian Pig Iron.
In line out of total Pig iron exports from the nation in CY17, United States procured approximately 56% (1.17 MnT) of total quantity, followed by Italy & Turkey was the major Pig Iron importer of Ukraine which imported around 490,000 MT (23.54%) & 170,000 MT (8.18%), respectively.
Presently, the export offers of steel grade Pig Iron are assessed at USD 345-355/MT FoB Russia, USD 370-375/MT FoB Brazil & at USD 360-370/MT FoB India.
