Trade statistics released by Ukraine customs shows that Ukraine iron ore exports significantly drop by 12% in May’16. In Apr’16, the country exported around 3.84 MnT iron ore.
In May’16, the country imported 3.38 MnT iron ore as compared to 4.02 MnT in May’16. Exports drop down by 16% Y-o-Y. However, on M-o-M basis, iron ore exports drop down by 12% as it was 3.84 MnT in Apr’16.
In first five months of 2016, the country exported 17.6 MnT iron ore as compared to 18.7 MnT in the same time frame in 2015.
The non-agglomerated iron ore (lumps and fines) exports in May’16 was registered at 2.19 MnT, decreased by 17% M-o-M. However, on the Y-o-Y basis, the non-agglomerated iron ore exports decreased by 15% as it was 2.58 MnT in May’16. The largest importer of Ukrainian iron ore is China.
The agglomerated iron ore (pellets and concentrate) exports in May’16 was registered at 1.19 MnT, remained almost stable as compared to Apr’16. On Y-o-Y basis, agglomerated iron ore imports sharply decreased by 17.3% over the previous year. The largest importer of Ukrainian pellets was Germany.
