Ukraine Iron Ore Exports Down 21% in Jan’17

Trade statistics released by the fourth largest iron ore exporter Ukraine customs show that the iron ore exports by the country were considerably down by 21% in Jan’17. In Dec’16, the country exported around 3.22 MnT iron ore.

In Jan’17, the country exported 2.54 MnT iron ore against 3.53 MnT in Jan’16. Exports dropped by 28% Y-o-Y for the corresponding month.

The non-agglomerated iron ore (lumps and fines) exports in Jan’17 were registered at 1.43 MnT, equal the quantity exported last month. However, on it was down 37% Y-o-Y for the month Jan compared to last year, as it was 2.27 MnT in Jan’16. The largest importer of Ukrainian iron ore is China.

The agglomerated iron ore (pellets and concentrate) exports in Jan’17 were registered at 1.11 MnT down by 38% compared to Dec’16 and down 12% Y-o-Y compared to Jan’16.
