Trade statistics released by the European Union shows that UK, the 10th largest iron ore importer has imported 0.85 MnT iron ore in Sept’16.
Country’s import witnessed a growth of 29% M-o-M as compared to 0.66 MnT in Aug’16. However, on Y-o-Y basis, iron ore imports moved up by 33% as compared to 0.64 MnT in Sept’15.
In the first nine months of 2016, the country imported 7.12 MnT iron ore, down by 31% as it was 10.36 MnT in the same period last year.
The non-agglomerated iron ore (lumps and fines) imports in Sept’16 was registered at 0.68 MnT, up by 209% over the previous month as it was 0.22 MnT in Aug’16 Exports of non-agglomerated iron ore remained at 0.48 MnT in Sept’16.
The agglomerated iron ore (pellets and concentrates) imports in Sept’16 was registered at at 0.17 MnT, down by 61% M-o-M. However, on Y-o-Y basis, the country’s agglomerated imports moved up by 6%.
