UK Iron Ore Import Down 54% in Oct’16

Trade statistics released by the European Union shows that UK, the 10th largest iron ore importer has imported 0.39 MnT iron ore in Oct’16.

Country’s import witnessed a decrease of 54.1% M-o-M as compared to 0.85 MnT in Sept’16. However, on Y-o-Y basis, iron ore imports decreased by 49% as compared to 0.76 MnT in Oct’15.

In the first ten months of 2016, the country imported 7.51 MnT iron ore, down by 32% as it was 11.12 MnT in the same period last year.

The non-agglomerated iron ore (lumps and fines) imports in Oct’16 was registered at 0.39 MnT, down by 43% over the previous month as it was 0.68 MnT in Sept’16. Exports of non-agglomerated iron ore remained at 0.25 MnT in Oct’15.

No agglomerated iron ore (pellets and concentrates) was imported in Oct’16 whereas 0.17 MnT ore was imported in Sept’16. However, agglomerated iron ore imports remained at 0.51 MnT in Oct’15.
