A Turkish long steelmaker bought two handy size scrap cargoes from Europe this week as deep sea prices declined from the first half of January, as had been expected, some two weeks after the last reported bookings, market players say.
A mixed cargo of 20,000 tonnes of HMS 1$2 (70:30 blend) was sold at $420/MT CFR North Turkey and 10,000 MT of HMS 1 at $445/MT CFR was booked late on Tuesday from a West European supplier.
A composite booking containing 32,000 MT of HMS 1&2 (80:20 blend) at $430/MT CFR North Turkey and 6,000 MT of HMS 1 at $442/MT CFR also went through from a UK supplier, as a $10/MT fall on offers reported out of European terminals last week was confirmed in settlements.
