Turkey’s Tosyali Demir Celik Sanayi A.S. has placed an order for a second EAF quantum Electric Arc Furnace from Primetals Technologies. The second EAF is designed to produce 2 mn t liquid steel per year and may be operated with a mixture of scrap of varying composition of HBI. In addition to this, it has also contracted Primetals to revamp its recently ordered 2-strand slab caster to 3.4 mn t pa capacity. The new order follows an order placed in 2020, which encompassed a first EAF quantum electric arc furnace, a twin vaccum-degassing plant with oxygen blowing and the original version of a 2-strand slab caster. All plants will be installed at the Tosyali’s flat steel greenfield project in Iskenderun, Turkey. The commissioning is expected for late-2022.
