Pig iron Imports in Turkey incline by 135% M-o-M in Sep’18, the recent released data by Turkey’s custom showed.
The nation has imported about 140,598 MT Pig iron in Sep’18, as against 59,681 MT in Aug’18. Russia remains the largest exporter to Turkey; in the month of September, Pig iron imports from Russia incline by 183% & stood at 70,524 MT as against 24,893 MT in Aug’18. Inline, Pig iron imports from Brazil & Ukraine recorded at 38,882 MT & 26,588 MT in September.
In the total Pig iron imports during 2018 (Jan-Sep), the major sellers of Pig iron to Turkey was – Russia (598,953 MT), Ukraine (246,744 MT), Brazil (124,149 MT), Germany (14,546 MT) & South Korea (12,500 MT).
Further, in the first nine months of CY18 (Jan-Sep), the data shows about 996,894 MT Pig iron imports, rise by 41.72% against 703,416 MT in the same preceding CY17.
The crude steel output in Turkey decline by 5.91% Y-o-Y & stood at 2,823,278 MT during Sep’18 against same preceding last year to 3,000,793 MT. Meanwhile in CY18 (Jan-Sep)the figure of crude steel production stood at 27,949,958 MT, further in CY17 at 37,331,377 MT, & 33,163,131 MT in CY16.
Key Updates
— In the month of September 2018, Turkey imported approximately 583,485 MT of iron ore, which is down by 45.79% M-o-M against 1,076,425 MT in Apr’18. And the major imports were done from Brazil (377,910 MT) & Russia(119,761 MT).
— The global export offers for steel grade Pig Iron are assessed at USD 365-375/MT FoB India, USD 360-370/MT FoB Black Sea & USD 380-385/MT CNF Italy (Our last assessment as on 6th Nov).
— Substitutes like Scrap, Turkey imports in Sep’18 witnessed a fall of 35.18% M-o-M as against 1,892,205 MT in Aug’18.
