Pig iron imports to Turkey came down sharply in the second quarter (July-September) of FY 14, to a total of 190,026 MT as compared to both last quarter and similar time period in 2012.
According to data released by Turkish Statistical Institute, the decrease was noted for the first time since the second quarter of 2011.
In Q1 FY 14, Turkish Pig iron imports dropped to 37.8% Y-o-Y.
In January to June 2013, a total of 417,312 MT of Pig iron had been imported, down by 42.8%.
Turkey's largest Pig iron source Ukraine exported 279,917 MT (down by 39.5% Y-o-Y) followed by Russia's 145,852 MT (34.1% Y-o-Y).
In June 2013, Pig iron imports to Turkey came down by 40% M-o-M and 28.65% Y-o-Y to a total of 64,078 MT.
The average import price also dropped to US$444/MT in June this year, which was standing at US$494/MT in June 2012.
The average value of Pig iron imports was down by 11.5% M-o-M and 35.9% Y-o-Y to US$ 28.4 million.
Ukrainian Pig Iron Exports moved up in June '13
In January to June 2013, exports of Pig iron from Ukraine went up by 17.6% Y-o-Y to 1.03,0 MnT.
Whereas, imports came down by 67.4% Y-o-Y to a total of 5,600 MT.
According to data released by metal trading enterprise Ukrainian Mining and Metallurgical Company (UGMK), Ukrainian Pig iron exports increased by 19.8% M-o-M to 207,500 MT in June this year.
