The tenth largest importer of Iron ore, Turkey has recorded increase in iron ore imports for the month of July’18. The imports recorded at 1.22 MnT in July’18, up by two folds as against 0.61 MnT in June’18. The Y-o-Y imports witnessed rise of 31% in July’18 as against 0.93 MnT in July’17.
Turkey’s crude steel production for July’18 witnessed at 3.27 MnT, up 8% on monthly basis as against 3.04 MnT in June’18. On yearly basis, the output reduced marginally as against July’17 production at 3.35 MnT.
Turkey’s iron ore imports for the duration Jan-July’18 stood at 6.08 MnT, down 7% as against same duration last year at 6.56 MnT.
The non-agglomerated ore (Lumps and Fines) witnessed rise of 51% M-o-M in imports to 0.62 MnT in July’18 as against 0.41 MnT in June’18. However, Y-o-Y imports down by 7% in July’18 as against 0.67 MnT in July’17.
Agglomerated ore (pellets and concentrates) recorded July’18 imports at 0.6 MnT, up three folds M-o-M as against 0.2 MnT in June’18. The Y-o-Y import marked increase to more than two folds as compared to July’17 imports at 0.26 MnT.
Brazil accounted for half of total iron ore exports to Turkey in July
Brazil continued to be the largest exporter of iron ore to Turkey in July’18 at 0.62 MnT, contributing 51% of total Turkey’s total import for the month. The imports witnessed rise of 88% M-o-M as against 0.33 MnT a month before.
Sweden stood second largest exporter at 0.3 MnT (up more than four folds M-o-M), and Ukraine at 0.12 MnT (up 33% on monthly basis).
