The tenth largest importer of Iron ore, Turkey has recorded fall in iron ore imports for the month of Nov’18. The imports recorded at 0.74 MnT in Nov’18, down 40% on monthly basis as against 1.23 MnT in Oct’18. The Y-o-Y imports witnessed 8% decline in Nov’18 as against 0.8 MnT in Nov’17.
Turkey’s crude steel production down marginally in Nov’18
Turkey’s crude steel production for Nov’18 witnessed at 3.14 MnT, down as against 3.16 MnT in Oct’18. Also, on yearly basis, the output reduced as against Nov’17 production at 3.21 MnT.
Turkey’s iron ore imports for the duration Jan-Nov’18 stood at 9.71 MnT, in line with same duration last year at 9.76 MnT.
The non-agglomerated ore (Lumps and Fines) witnessed 43% drop to 0.43 MnT in Nov’18 as against 0.76 MnT in Oct’18. On yearly basis imports dropped 32% in Nov’18 as against 0.63 MnT in Nov’17.
Agglomerated ore (pellets and concentrates) recorded Nov’18 imports at 0.32 MnT, down 32% as against 0.47 MnT a month ago. However, Y-o-Y imports marked 88% rise as compared to Nov’17 imports at 0.17 MnT.
Iron ore imports from Brazil down 16% in Nov’18
Brazil continued to be the largest exporter of iron ore to Turkey in Nov’18 at 0.43 MnT, contributing 58% of total Turkey’s import for the month. The imports witnessed 16% drop M-o-M as against 0.51 MnT a month before. Sweden stood second largest exporter at 0.15 MnT(down 32%) followed by Russia at 0.11 MnT.
