Turkey, the world’s eight largest iron ore importer has imported 0.95 MnT iron ore in Jul’16, according to the trade statistics released by Turkey customs.
Iron ore imports have witnessed a growth of 13% M-o-M as it was 0.84 MnT in Jun’16. On similar lines, Turkey iron ore imports dropped down by 17% Y-o-Y as it was 0.81 MnT in Jul’15.

During the first seven months of 2016, the country imported 6.27 MnT iron ore, up by 9.4% Y-o-Y as it was 5.73 MnT in the same period prior this year.
The non-agglomerated iron ore (lumps and fines) import in Jul’16 was registered at 0.65 MnT, significantly up by 75.6% M-o-M. On contrary, the agglomerated ore (pellets and concentrates) import was registered at 0.29 MnT, down by 37% M-o-M.
- Brazil, the largest iron ore exporter to Turkey has exported 0.58 MnT against 0.29 MnT iron ore in Jun’16. Exports from Brazil in the month of Jul’16 grew by 100% M-o-M and 65% Y-o-Y.
- Canada turned out to be the second-largest iron ore exporter to Turkey in the month of Jul’16 which was Russia last year. In Jul’16, the country exported 0.17 MnT iron ore against zero exports in Jun’16. The nation exported 0.16 MnT iron ore in Jul’15.
- Russia the third largest iron ore exporter to Turkey has exported 0.12 MnT iron ore in Jul’16. Exports in the month of Jun’16 was registered at 0.20 MnT. The nation exported 0.11 MnT iron ore to Turkey in Jul’15.
