Turkey Iron Ore Import Down by 37% in Dec’16

Turkey the tenth largest importer of Iron ore have witnessed a decrease of 37% M-o-M as it was 1.18 MnT in Nov’16. There was no change in Turkey iron ore imports Y-o-Y as it was at 0.75 MnT in Dec’15.

For the year 2016, the country imported 10.43 MnT iron ore buying 4% more material with a marginal hike compared to last year at 10.02 MnT

The non-agglomerated iron ore (lumps and fines) import in Dec’16 was registered at 0.42 MnT, considerably down by 33.71% M-o-M and up by 36% Y-o-Y. On the same lines, the agglomerated ore (pellets and concentrates) import was registered at 0.32 MnT, down by both 41% M-o-M and 25% Y-o-Y.

Country’s iron ore imports were majorly from Brazil, Russia, Ukraine and Argentina. In Dec’16, the country imported 0.38 MnT from Brazil, 0.20 MnT from Russia, 0.12 from Ukraine, and 0.04 MnT from Argentina.
