Imported scrap offers to Turkey has increased in the latest confirmed deal. In which, a Baltic region-based scrap recycler sold a 30,000 MT cargo to a southern Turkey-based steel mill, comprising of 21,000 MT HMS 1&2 (80:20) being booked at USD 265/MT CFR Turkey, 8000 MT of bonus at USD 275/MT and 1000 MT of rails at USD 280/MT CFR basis.
Prior to this, Western Marmara region based steelmaker has booked a bulk cargo from a USA based scrap recycling yard, comprising of HMS 1&2 (95:5) at an average price of USD 263.50/MT CFR Turkey.
While before that at the closing of last week, USA based scrap recycler sold a bulk cargo to steelmaker cited in the Mediterranean region, comprising of HMS 1&2 (80:20) at USD 259.50, shredded at USD 264.5/MT and bonus at USD 269.50/MT CFR Turkey.
SteelMint’s assessment of USA origin HMS 1&2 (80:20) moved up by USD 7/MT to USD 268/MT CFR Turkey, against the closing of last week. Notably, offers have started reaching equal to three-month high level, since it was recorded at USD 276/ MT in the middle of March. Also, strengthening of the Euro against USD has also kept Turkish imported scrap prices supported.
