Turkey: Imported scrap prices remain firm in recent trades

Imported scrap trades to Turkey have resumed after a pause of couple of days. Prices have remained unchanged in recent bookings.

* In the deal concluded, a Mediterranean region based steelmaker booked a bulk vessel from a USA based scrap yard. The cargo comprised of HMS 1&2 (80:20) at $267/t and bonus at $277/t CFR Turkey.

* In another deal concluded, in which UK based major scrap recycler sold a bulk cargo to a steel mill located in Marmara region, comprising of HMS 1&2 (75:25) at $255/ t, while bonus at $270/t CFR basis.

SteelMint’s assessment of USA origin HMS 1&2 (80:20) remains firm at $268/t CFR Turkey.

Turkish steel prices have observed an increase following hike in scrap prices. Rebar prices in domestic and export market have increased by 3-4% W-o-W.
