According recent assessment, throughout this week Turkish imported scrap market remained unchanged after witnessing surge of USD 20 /MT in last week’s prices.
SteelMint’s reference price index for USA origin HMS 1&2 (80:20) stood at USD 355-356 /MT CFR Turkey.
Suppliers continued to quote higher prices at around USD 360 /MT, CFR Turkey but buyers have resisted from accepting such high offers.
Last deep sea cargoes trades were heard to have taken place at USD 353-354/MT, CFR Turkey.After which no confirmed trade deals have been recorded so far in this week in turkey.
Trade -wise:
A cargo containing 20,000 MT of HMS (75:25), 9,000 MT of shredded, 8,000 MT of P&S /HMS 1 2,000 MT of bushelling and 1,000 MT of tin can bundles at an average price of USD 353.50/MT CFR Turkey booked by Turkish buyers at beginning of this week.
Turkey: Crude Steel Output up 14% Y-o-Y in Jan-Jul’17
During the first seven months of CY17 (Jan-Jun’17), Turkey’s crude steel production stood at 21.60 MnT Up 14 %, compared with 19 MnT in the corresponding period of CY16.
The crude steel production from electric arc furnaces (EAFs) totalled 14.81 MnT in Jan-Jul’17, up by 18.8% Y-o-Y. However, output from blast furnaces was 6.75 MnT in the same period, up by 3.75 % Y-o-Y.
In Jul’17, Turkey produced 3.34 MnT of crude steel, up by 28 % Y-o-Y and up 11% M-o-M.
Country’s billet production reached 14.71 MnT with a rise of 9.31 % from 13.46 MnT a year earlier however, slab production stood at 6.85 MnT, up by 24.15 % against 5.52 MnT in Jan-Jul’17.
