Turkey imported 55% of total Pig iron from Ukraine in Jan-Feb '13 

Imports of Pig iron into Turkey have improved sharply in the month of February this year as compared to that in January, which recorded the lowest level since May 2011.

A total of 131,977 MT of Pig iron was imported in February at an average price of $416/MT, down from $480/MT in February 2012.

The total value of imports went up by 68.5% Y-o-Y to $55 million.

59,921 MT was imported in January 2013 and 67,847 MT in February 2012.

In January and February 2013, 191,896 MT of Pig iron was imported in Turkey, down by 21% Y-o-Y, as mentioned below.

Ukraine 105,027 MT, drop of 38.1% Y-o-Y

Russia 75,690 MT, up by 25.7%

South Africa, Germany, Georgia and Canada were other suppliers.
