According to the latest customs data, Turkey flat steel imports which includes 7208 (HR coils /Plates), 7209 (CR coils), 7225 (Electrical sheets), 7210/7212(GP/GC) have registered a marginal increase of 1.4% to 7.76 MnT in 2016 against 7.65 MnT in 2015.
If yearly comparison is made, then Turkey flat steel imports showed a down-trend of 22% to 0.58 MnT in Dec’16 against previous year. In Dec’15 the same stood at 0.74 MnT.
On monthly basis the nation’s flat steel imports rose marginally by 4%, to 0.58 MnT in Dec’16 against 0.56 MnT in Nov’16.
Grade-Wise Turkey Flat Steel imports
As per grade-wise analysis, 7208 imports surged considerably by 22.7% M-o-M in Dec’16 against Nov’16 whereas 7209,7210, 7225 have declined in Dec’16 against previous month. Although, flat steel grades imports like 7212 showed a considerable hike of 107.71% in Dec’16.

Country-Wise Turkey Flat Steel imports in Dec’16
Russia was the major flat steel exporter and 19,49,262 MT flat steel was exported to Turkey in Dec’16 against 18,99,549 MT of flat steel in Nov’16. Other major exporting countries include South Korea, Romania followed by Ukraine and China.
