According to the recent customs data,Turkey flat steel imports which includes 7208 (HR coils /Plates), 7209 (CR coils), 7225 (Electrical sheets),7210/7212(GP/GC) climbed by 41% M-o-M basis in Sep’18.
Nation’s flat steel imports stood at 0.62 MnT in Sep’18 in comparison with 0.44 MnT in Aug’18.
However on yearly basis the same dropped by 26% in Sep’18 against 0.84 MnT in Sep’17.
During first nine months of CY18 (Jan- Sep) nation’s flat steel export volumes stood at 5.48 MnT fell by 7% against 5.89 MnT in similar time frame of previous year.
Turkey is likely to impose tariffs on steel imports by early 2019-Turkey started the investigation into imports of flat, long and stainless steel, along with steel tube and pipe products in April. The plan for it to be finished by early 2019.
Turkish steelmakers expect new duties on imports, especially of flat and long products since producers cannot meet production costs amid cheaper imports and have to decrease capacity utilization levels.

Country-Wise Turkey Flat Steel Imports in Sep’18 – Russia stood as a major flat steel exporter and has procured 0.21 MnT of flat steel in Sep’18 against 0.12 MnT in Aug’18.
Secondly Ukraine exported 0.06 MnT in Sep’18 against 0.04 MnT in previous month.
Followed by France at 0.05 MnT in Sep’18,up by 25% against 0.04 MnT in Aug’18.South Korea stood at 0.05 MnT, Germany stood at 0.06 MnT ,Belgium at 0.02 followed by China at 0.03 MnT and Netherlands at 0.01 MnT in Sep’18.
