Turkey’s finish long & flat steel exports fell in Aug’19, as per the custom data maintained with SteelMint.
Finish Long Steel- The nation’s finish long steel exports registered at 0.82 MnT in Aug’19, plunged by around 9% M-o-M basis against 0.9 MnT in Jul’19.
However on yearly basis exports moved up by 6.49% in Aug’19 as compared to 0.77 MnT in Aug’18.
Commodity wise- Rebar export is registered at 0.63 MnT in Aug’19, down by 11.26% against 0.71 MnT in Jul’19 followed by Structure (Angle Channel) & Wire rod at 0.16 MnT and 0.03 MnT respectively in Aug’19, which remain stable against previous month.
Country wise- Singapore stood as top importer of finish long steel from Turkey and surged by 25% to 0.15 MnT in Aug’19 against 0.12 MnT in Jul’19 followed by Israel 0.10 MnT in Aug’19 (-41.17%) compared to 0.17 MnT in Jul’19 and Yemen 0.06 MnT in Aug’19 (+20%) against 0.05 MnT in Jul’19.
Finish Flat Steel- Turkey’s finished flat steel exports witnessed a decline of 13% on a monthly premise to 0.54 MnT in Aug’19 in comparison with 0.62 MnT in the preceding month.
The demand in the global market continues to remain weak amid prolonged US-China trade feud. The restrictions by way of US’s 25% trade tariffs and European Commission’s country-specific quota also weighed on the Turkish finished flat steel export volume.
Meanwhile, higher inventories, weak demand and falling prices in the EU also led to lower exports from Turkey in Aug’19.
On contrary, yearly basis country’s export surged by 17.39% in Aug’19 as compared to 0.46 MnT in Aug’18.
