Turkey – world’s largest ferrous scrap importer has witnessed fall of 5% M-o-M in ferrous scrap imports in Apr’17. The country imported 1.66 MnT ferrous scrap in Apr’17 against 1.74 MnT in Mar’17, according to the recently released Turkish Customs data.
However on yearly premises, i.e. compared to Apr’16, import figures are up by 21% as in Apr’16 Turkey imported 1.37 MnT ferrous scrap.
During Jan-Apr’17 Turkey imported 5.92 MnT ferrous scrap against 5.51 MnT in the same period last year.
UK remained the largest exporter of ferrous scrap to Turkey in Apr’17
United Kingdom (UK) stood the largest exporter of ferrous scrap to Turkey in Apr’17 at 0.27 MnT against 0.26 MnT in Mar’17. Other major exporters in Apr’17 were Netherlands and Belgium at 0.24 MnT and 0.22 MnT respectively. USA ferrous scrap exports to Turkey fell from 0.45 MnT in Mar’17 to 0.17 MnT in Apr’17.
However, Turkey ferrous scrap import figures are likely to increase in May’17 as buyers were heard booking cargoes as a restocking measure before the Ramdan festival.
