Billet Imports in Turkey moved up by around 7% M-o-M in Jan’18 as per the recent released data by Turkey’s custom showed.
As per the customs, the nation has imported about 470,000 MT Billet in January 2018 against 440,000 MT in December 2017, surge by 6.82 % on monthly premises. While on yearly basis, imports were down by 4.08% against 490,000 MT in January 2017.
Further, on yearly basis, in first 10 months of FY 2018 (Apr-Jan), the imports are down by 17.34% to 3.86 MnT against same preceding last fiscal year at 4.67 MnT.
Russia continues to remain the largest billet exporter to Turkey –
Russia stands out to be the largest exporter of Billet to Turkey , exporting 280,000 MT in Jan’18, followed by Ukraine at 130,000 MT & Serbia at 20,000 MT.
Further in the month of Jan’18, the billet imports from Russia in the nation rise by 65% on monthly basis against 170,000 MT in Dec’17. While, in Jan’18 Turkey witnessed an imports of around 60% Russian billet.
Russia exported around 37.94% of the total billet imported by Turkey in the calendar year of 2017. It may also be mentioned that Russia has been the largest exporter since CY 2015, while in CY 2014 Ukraine topped the list.
— The crude steel production of the Turkey was around 3.17 MnT in Jan’18 which has been reduced by 3.15% from Dec’17 at 3.27 MnT and in CY17 it was approximately 37.33 MnT. Prior to this it was at 33.16 MnT in CY16 & 31.52 MnT in CY15.
— Turkey’s ferrous scrap imports has decreased by 17% M-o-M to 1.68 MnT in Jan’18 against 2.02 MnT in Dec’17.
— On monthly basis, Turkish Rebar export offers gained by USD 40-50/MT owing to supportive demand & the SteelMint’s price assessment on 6th Mar’18 was at USD 595-600/MT FoB.
— Presently, the export offers of 125*125 3SP grade billet are at USD 535-545/MT CNF Turkey, 125*125 3SP at USD 525-535/MT FoB Ukraine & 95*95 at USD 510-520/MT FoB India.
