In 2020, China’s Baowu Group became the largest producer of crude steel at 115.29 mn t. Compared to 2019, the company’s steel production increased 21% y-o-y.
Luxembourg-based ArcelorMittal, which topped the list of the world’s top steel producers for many years, slipped to second position in CY20 with 78.46 mn t. Compared to CY19, ArcelorMittal’s production fell 19% y-o-y.
China’s HBIS Group secured the third position with 43.76 mn t.
It is to be noted that in 2020, no Indian steelmaker could make it to the list of top 10 global crude steel producers.
