The USA may drop tariffs on steel imports from Japan

The USA and Japan are close to reaching an agreement that will remove some of the tariffs the former imposed on Japanese steel imports in CY’18. The two countries have yet to finalise the size of the tariff-exempt import quotas. Japan has been calling for the removal of the 25% tariffs. USA’s steel imports from Japan stood at 0.66 mn t in CY’21, as per SteelMint data.
