Thailand steel import statistics – Apr’20

Thailand’s imports of raw materials moved down significantly, whereas finished steel imports remained moderate, as per the custom data maintained with SteelMint.

Ferrous Scrap imports registered at 0.13 mn t in Apr’20, down by 27.8% as against 0.18 mn t in Mar’20.

Semi Finish (Billet) imports reported at 0.2 mn t in Apr’20, down by 41.2% against 0.34 mn t in Mar’20.

Japan stood as the major billet supplier to Thailand with 0.07 mn t in Apr’20 down by 12.5% as against 0.08 mn t in Mar’20 followed by Oman 0.04 mn t in Apr’20, tumble by 42.8% as compared to 0.07 mn t in Mar’20.

Finish Long Steel imports volume remains stable on a monthly basis and reported at 0.11 mn t in Apr’20 against the previous month.

Finish Flat Steel imports by the nation registered at 0.77 mn t in Apr’20 slightly up by 2.7% as compared to 0.75 mn t in Mar’20.

Load Country Wise- Chinese exports to Thailand were registered at 0.31 mn t in Apr’20 (+19.23% m-o-m) followed by Japan at 0.28 mn t in Apr’20 (-3.4% m-o-m) and South Korea 0.10 mn t in Apr’20 (-16.6% m-o-m).

Graphite Electrode imports were registered at 645 t in Apr’20 decreased by 18.3% as against 789 t in Mar’20.
