–After a decline in flat steel imports from May to September 2019 imports grew by 26.4% M-o-M. Flat products accounted for the largest share of Thailand’s YTD 2019 steel imports up to 799,453 MT in Oct’19.
–Japan by far the top source country for Thailand accounted for the largest share of finish flat imports for around 353,452 MT in Oct’19. China ranked second with 209,964 MT, followed by South Korea with 148,235 MT. Flat steel export shipments from all three countries increased in Oct’19 against Sept’19.
–Imports of HRC/Plates increased by 39% M-o-M in Oct’19.
–Semi-finished steel accounted for a 45.8% M-o-M drop, followed by finish long with 17.3% has observed a major decline in its import value.
–Ferrous scrap imports have significantly decreased by 34.4% M-o-M in Oct’19. Import volumes from US remained nil in Oct’19 against 0.03 MnT in Sept’19.
