As per recent data released by Thailand customs it is observed that the nation has imported about 70,000 MT Billet in July 2017.
The imports have registered a downfall of 12.50% M-o-M in Jul’17 against 80,000 MT in Jun’17. During Jul’17, Iran has exported approximately more than 50% (40,000 MT) of Billet to Thailand.
While, on Y-o-Y in July 2017 imports registered a fall of 78% against 320,000 MT in July 2016.
Coming to total imports in Jan-Jul’17, the nation has imported about 1.15 MnT Billet; down by 61% as compared to 2.95 MnT in the same preceding last year.
In the duration of Jan-Jul’17 – Iran, Japan & Indonesia was the major Billet exporter to Thailand which exported about 0.42 MnT (36.37%), 0.18 MnT (15.55%) & 0.11 MnT (9.43%), respectively.
Fresh billet exports offers are evaluated – USD 500/MT FoB India & from Iran is around USD 495-500/MT, FoB Iran.
In the month of July 2017, the crude steel production of the Thailand was around 0.30 MnT against 0.29 MnT in Jul’16. Further in CY17 (Jan-Jul) it was approximately 2.38 MnT, as per the SteelMint assessment.
Pig Iron Imports:
In Jul’17, Thailand’s Pig Iron import was around 30,000 MT against at 20,000 MT in Jun’17.
India remained in the top list of Pig Iron exporter to Thailand. In the duration of Jan-Jul’17, India has exported around 0.44 MnT Pig Iron which contribute about 46.25% of total Pig Iron imports in Thailand.
The export offers of steel grade Pig Iron are currently assessed at USD 365/MT FoB Russia, USD 350/MT FoB Brazil & at USD 360/MT FoB India.
