Tata Steel’s Performance during Q1 FY17

On 12 Sep’16, Tata Steel reported its first quater results for FY17 and its group operational performance hit during the same period.

Indian performance highlights

1. Tata steel-India’s steel deliveries decreased by 21% to 2.14 MnT in Q1 FY17 against Q4 FY16. However, on Y-o-Y basis growth remains flat.

2. It’s largest brand, Tata Tiscon achieved a growth of 6% Y-o-Y in Q1 FY17 and accounts for 16% of overall sales.

3. Automotive witnessed 19% Y-o-Y growth in Q1 FY17 and accounts for 18.5% of overall sales.

4. The company also attributed it’s poor performance to drought situation, leading to poor demand in many parts of India during the quarter. .

Tata Steel Group performance highlights

Tata Steel Group steel deliveries decreased by 7% on Y-o-Y basis to 5.41 MnT in Q1 FY17 while on Q-o-Q basis it is down by 15%.
