Tata Steel, which inaugurated the 1st phase of its 3 MnT pa steel plant at Kalinganagar Odisha last month, is likely to commence commercial production of hot metal by April next year, a senior official of the company said.
“The project is currently going through commissioning stage and we are hopeful that by next April we will be able to start commercial production. In the 2nd phase, we have planned to set up a bigger blast furnace, which would be the biggest blast furnace in the country. Moreover, with commissioning of this 2nd blast furnace, our total capacity may cross 6 MnT pa”, said Arun Mishra, Vice President of Tata Steel and Managing Director, Tata Steel Gopalpur SEZ.
Meanwhile, he added that the Kalinganagar steel project will be complete industrial complex including the downstream units and it’ll not have any linkage with Tata’s Gopalpur SEZ.
