Tata Bhushan Steel – a major integrated steelmaker with a the capacity of 5.6 mn t has recorded iron ore sourcing at 228,283 t in May’20, up 10% as against 207,910 t in Apr’20.
Out of the total sourcing for the month, 86% was from its captive mines at 196,319 t against 207,910 t in Apr’20.
Sourcing from OMC picked up for the month to 31,964 t as against nil a month ago in Apr’20.

Tata Steel BSL is planning to expand Bhushan steel capacity from 5.6 mn t to 8.3 mn t. They are also planning to enhance production at its captive iron ore mines around Jamshedpur and Kalinganagar.
In FY’20, Tata steel total crude steel output summed up to 18.21 mn t, increased by 8% as against 16.81 mn t in FY ’19. In Q4 FY’20 the company’s crude steel output from its Indian operations aggregated to 4.74 mn t, up by 6% as compared to 4.47 mn t in the previous quarter. This was supported by the Tata Steel BSL and acquisition of Usha Martin Steel business by Tata Steel Long products; Tata Steel BSL also recorded its best-ever annual performance.
