Tata and Bluescope to start steel plant in Jamshedpur

Tata and Bluescope
Steel, an equal venture between biggest steelmakers in India and Australia,
will start an 8.8 billion rupee coated steel plant in India. The steel plant
with an annual capacity of 250,000 mt will be located in the Eastern city of
Jamshedpur.

A 3.2 mt
blast furnace in Jamshedpur is being built by Tata Steel, where its biggest and
only factory operates.

The
metallic coated products will be used in pre-fabricated buildings . According
to India's steel ministry's November evaluation India's local demand is
expected to grow at 9% p.a. in the next five years benefitting local
producer. 

“To increase
profits and decrease the effects of rising raw material prices , Tata Steel
Ltd, JSW Steel Ltd and Steel Authority of India are increasing the output of
high-value steel products,” said Harish Pathak, managing director of the
venture in a web query.
