Taiwan Steel Import Statistics – CY19

According to the recent data released by World Steel Association (WSA), Taiwan’s crude steel output in CY19 witnessed at 22,630,000 MT, fall slightly on yearly basis as against 22,675,000 MT in CY18.

— Taiwan Met Coke imports have decreased by 12.31% Y-o-Y to 272,695 MT in CY19.

— Taiwan Iron ore imports for CY19 recorded at 23,397,201 MT, fall slightly as compared to 24,189,850 MT in CY18. Inline on monthly premises, imports decline by 13.6% to 1,556,721 MT in Dec’19 as against 1,802,195 MT in Nov’19.

— Taiwan ferrous scrap imports fall by 7.65% in CY19 & stood at 3,127,013 MT. United States remains the top load country in CY19 with 1,562,753 MT, inline Japan stood second with 565,518 MT.

— Billet imports plunge by 10.68% Y-o-Y & the nation has imported about 3,329,885 MT Billet in CY19 against 3,728,320 MT in CY18. Russia was the major billet exporter, which exported about 1,573,213 MT (47.25%). Inline Japan exported 1,292,620 MT (38.82%) in CY19.

— Taiwanese Ferro alloys imports decreased by 26.45% Y-o-Y in CY19  from 602,742 MT in CY18. India remains the top load country in CY19 with 115,524 MT (26.06%) of exports to Taiwan.
