Taiwan flat steel exports plunge by 28% M-o-M Feb’19- The nation’s flat steel exports plunged by 28% on a monthly basis in Feb’19 to 0.56 MnT in comparison with 0.78 MnT in Jan’19.
Taiwan flat steel exports volumes plummet to its major importing nation’s like China and Vietnam due to Lunar New Year and Tet holidays from 4th-10th Feb.
Whereas on yearly premise nation’s exports contracted by 16% in Feb’19 against 0.67 MnT in Feb’18.
During first two months (Jan-Feb)’19 country’s export volumes shrank by 12% to 1.34 MnT as compared to 1.52 MnT in the similar time frame of previous year.
Country-wise Taiwan flat steel exports in Feb’19- Taiwan majorly exports flat steel to Japan and stood at 0.07 MnT in Feb’19, plunged by 22% in comparison to 0.09 MnT in the previous month.
Following this Taiwan also exported to China 0.05 MnT, Vietnam 0.06 MnT, United States 0.04 MnT while Malaysia and Bangladesh accounted for 0.05 MnT each in Feb’19.
Taiwan also exported flat steel products to Belgium, Thailand, South Korea and Philippines in smaller quantities.
Taiwan finish flat stainless steel export decrease by 29% M-o-M in Feb’19- Nation’s finish flat stainless steel exports stood at 0.05 MnT in Feb’19, plunged by 29% against 0.07 MnT in Jan’19.
Whereas on yearly premises the exports reduce by 38% in Feb’19 in comparison to 0.08 MnT in Feb’18.
During first two months (Jan-Feb)’19 nation’s exports volume stood at 0.13 MnT, as compared to 0.17 MnT in (Jan-Feb)’18.
Taiwan Finish long exports down by 25% in Feb’19- Nation’s Finish long exports fell by 25% on monthly basis and stood at 0.06 MnT in Feb ‘19 against 0.08 MnT in Jan’19.
Meanwhile on yearly basis the same fell by 50% in Feb’19 to 0.06 MnT against 0.12 MnT in Feb’18.
During first two months (Jan-Feb)’19 nation’s exports volume stood at 0.14 MnT as compared to 0.24 MnT in (Jan-Feb)’18.
As per market reports, Taiwan majorly exports long steel to Canada. However Canadian regulators proposed regulations for heavy plate and stainless steel wire which is still a menace for Canada’s steel industry.
Taiwan occupies 2% of overall Canadian steel imports, with the US leading the way at 51 % and China following at 7 %. However Canadian government implements safeguard measures and excludes countries like the US, Chile, Mexico, Israel and South Korea.Thus Taiwanese steelmakers would be greatly disadvantaged with these measures.
