Taiwan, the world’s sixth largest iron ore importer has imported 1.7 MnT iron ore in Jun’17, according to the trade statistics released by Taiwan customs.
Iron ore imports have decreased by 33% M-o-M as it was 2.4 MnT in May’17. However comparing the data for Jan-Jun’16, Taiwan iron ore imports were up by 16% Y-o-Y which was 11.1 MnT previous year and 12.8 MnT for the same period this year.
Taiwan imported the similar quantity in Jun last year as in Jun’17.

The non-agglomerated iron ore (lumps and fines) import in Jun’17 was registered at 1.56 MnT, down by 25% M-o-M but up by 5.4% Y-o-Y compared with the same month last year. The agglomerated ore (pellets and concentrates) import was registered at 0.09 MnT, significantly down by 74% M-o-M and 47% Y-o-Y comparing the corresponding month for the year 2016.
