As per the data compiled by SteelMint, in Jul ’20, the export volumes of finished-long and finished flat stainless steel increased, however, finished flat steel exports declined as against volumes in Jun ‘20.
Finished long steel exports witnessed an increase by 11% on the month in Jul ’20 at 50,615 t compared with 45,694 t in Jun ’20, however, declined by 16% y-o-y.
During the seven months (Jan-Jul) CY ’20, the export volumes aggregated to 367,141 t, falling by 23% as against 474,143 t in the corresponding months of CY ’19.
Finished flat steel exports stood at 625,984 t in Jul ’20, decreasing by 6% m-o-m against 664,163 t in Jun ’20, while declined by 10% on the year over 692,231 t in Jul ’19.
Competitive export offers from Indian steel manufacturers kept the Vietnamese importers enticed leading to a 45% decline in exports at 92,446 t in Jul ’20 over the previous month’s 167,430 t. On the other hand, in Jul ’20, the leading importing nation, China, imported 215,667 t, up by 30% against 166,464 t a month ago. Other nations include Malaysia at 47,078 t, Japan at 46,822 t, and the Philippines at 24,278 t in Jul ’20.
During then seven months (Jan-Jul) CY ’20, the volumes summed up to 4,932,514 t, down by 8% as against 5,389,719 t in a similar time frame of CY ’19.

Finished flat stainless steel export increased marginally by 3% to 52,739 t in Jul ’20 in comparison with 51,015 t a month ago. However, significantly declined by 32% on the year against Jul ’19.
During the seven months (Jan-Jul) CY ’20, the aggregated volumes stood at 426,321 t, falling by 18% over 518,154 t in Jan-Jul CY ’19.
