Taiwan: CSC keeps flat steel prices unchanged m-o-m for Sep’26 sales amid mixed demand conditions

  • Price roll-over follows two consecutive months of reductions
  • AI-led manufacturing demand offsets weakness in traditional sectors

Taiwan’s leading steelmaker, China Steel Corporation (CSC), has kept domestic prices for hot-rolled coil (HRC), cold-rolled coil (CRC), hot-rolled plates, hot-dip galvanised (HDG), and electro-galvanised (EG) steel coils unchanged m-o-m for September 2026 sales. The rollover follows two consecutive months of price reductions and reflects CSC’s cautious approach amid an uncertain regional pricing environment.

Taiwan’s high-tech and AI-related export sectors continue to support manufacturing activity and steel demand, while traditional industries remain weak. However, subdued steel demand in China and competitive export availability continue to weigh on regional flat steel markets, limiting the scope for a broader price recovery. This has reduced CSC’s room to raise prices despite relatively resilient demand from high-tech manufacturing.

CSC’s decision to hold prices steady after two consecutive cuts suggests that the mill sees limited scope for another reduction at current levels, while regional market conditions remain too weak to support a price increase.
