Taiwan billet imports plunged by 31% Y-o-Y in Feb’18, the fresh released data by country’s customs showed
The nation has imported about 0.24 MnT Billet in Feb’18 against 0.35 MnT in Feb’17, decline by 31.42% Y-o-Y. While on monthly basis imports, it remained stable against 0.24 MnT in Jan’18.
During Feb’18 major imports was reported from Japan approximately 54% (0.13 MnT) and rest quantities being imported from Russia, Vietnam & India.
Coming to total imports in CY18 (Jan-Feb), the nation has imported about 0.47 MnT Billet; decline by 12.96% as compared to 0.54 MnT in the same preceding last year.
In CY17 – Japan, Russia, UAE & Iran was the major billet exporter to Taiwan which exported about 1.65 MnT (48.43%), 1.00 MnT (29.30%), 0.37 MnT (10.87%) & 0.21 MnT (6.09%), respectively.
As per the SteelMint’s analysis, in the month of Feb’18, the crude steel production of Taiwan was around 1.81 MnT, decline by 7.65% M-o-M against 1.96 MnT in Jan’18 and in CY18(Jan-Feb) it was approximately 3.77 MnT, surge by 5.01% against 3.59 MnT in CY17 (Jan-Feb)
In context to export prices, the export offers of 150*150 IS 2830 grade billet are currently at USD 505-515/MT FoB India, 125*125 3SP at USD 500-510/MT FoB Ukraine & 125*125 Q235 are at 525-530/MT CNF Dubai.
