As per recent data released by Taiwan customs it is observed that the billet Imports in Taiwan incline by 4% Y-o-Y in the calendar year of 2017
The nation has imported about 3.41 MnT Billet in the calendar year 2017 against 3.28 MnT in 2016.
Inline, in the month of Dec’17, imports stood at 0.51 MnT against 0.34 MnT in Dec’16, surge by 50% Y-o-Y.
During the period of 2017, the largest exporter of billet to Taiwan was Japan, whose export to the nation was recorded at 1.65 MnT against 1.21 MnT in 2016, surge by around 36.36% Y-o-Y. It may also be mentioned that Japan has been the largest exporter for Taiwan since CY10 & exported around 14.84 MnT of billet in CY10 to CY17.
While in the year of 2017, Japan has contributed around 48.43% of billet exports to Taiwan, followed by major exporters like – Russia 1.00 MnT (29.30%), United Arab Emirates 0.37 MnT (10.87%), Iran 0.21 MnT (6.09%) & China 0.09 MnT (2.61%).
— The crude steel production of Taiwan was around 22.80 MnT in 2017 which increased by 5.70% against 21.57 MnT in 2016. Prior to this it was at 21.37 MnT in CY15, according to the World Steel Association.
— In context to export prices, the export offers of 150*150 Q235 grade billet are currently at USD 540-550/MT FoB China, 125*125 3SP at USD 515-530/MT FoB Ukraine & 130*130 3SP are at USD 510-520/MT FoB Iran.
— Taiwan’s prices for imports of containerized HMS-grade ferrous scrap have increased by USD 10-15/MT W-o-W, the price assessment for USA based HMS 1&2 (80:20) are at USD 335/MT CFR Taiwan.
