Taiwan Billet imports increased by 13% in Q3 CY’18 Q-o-Q and 29% on Y-o-Y, SteelMint learned in recent released custom data.
Taiwan’s Billet imports recorded at 0.94 MnT in Q3 CY’18, up by 13% as against 0.83 MnT in previous quarter. Also Billet imports was surge by 29% as against same quarter of the previous year at 0.73 MnT (Q3 CY’17).
On monthly basis, Taiwan has imported about 0.27 MnT Billet during Sep’18 as against 0.47 MnT in Aug’18, significantly fall by 43% M-o-M. While on yearly basis, Billet imports surge by 29% as compared to 0.21 MnT in Sep’17.
On the other side, Taiwan ferrous scrap imports have increased by 26% M-o-M in Sep’18.
Further on a cumulative basis (Jan-Sep’18), Billet imports in Taiwan has increased by 6% and stood at around 2.58 MnT, which was about 2.41 MnT in the same period last year.
In the duration of Jan-Sep’18, Japan remains the largest Billet exporter to Taiwan with a contribution of 1.29 MnT (50.27%), followed by Russia 0.56 MnT (21.66%) & Vietnam 0.17 MnT(6.76%).
Prior to this, in CY17 (Jan-Dec) the country’s Billet imports was at around 3.43 MnT.
Trade Updates:
— Taiwan containerized imported scrap prices hit 2018 low. Price assessment for US origin HMS (80:20) stood at around USD 301/MT CNF.
The latest price assessment of global billet exports at USD 430-435/MT FoB Iran & USD 455-465/MT FoB Ukraine.
Taiwan Finish long exports:
Taiwan has exported about 0.10 MnT finish long steel in the month of Sep’18 as against 0.06 MnT in Aug’18, significantly up by 67% M-o-M. However on yearly basis, finish long steel export almost stable.
On a Cumulative basis, Taiwan total finish long exports during Jan-Sep’18 stood at 0.83 MnT, moved up by 67% which was about 0.06 in Jan-Sep’17.
Australia was the largest importer for Taiwan’s finish long steel with a contribution of 0.19 MnT (23.23%), followed by US 0.08 MnT (9.61%), South Korea 0.07 MnT (8.39%), Thailand 0.06 MnT (8.39%), China 0.06 (7.62%).
