Sweden, major European iron ore exporter recorded exports in Oct’18 at 2.35 MnT. The exports depicted sharp rise by 43% on monthly basis as against 1.64 MnT in Sep’18.
On yearly basis, the exports increased 15% as against 2.05 MnT in Oct’17.
In CY’18 (Jan-Oct’18), Sweden iron ore exports witnessed at 19.56 MnT, almost stable as against 19.33 MnT for the same duration last year (Jan-Oct’17).
In Oct’18, an agglomerated (pellets/concentrate) iron ore exports have recorded 22% rise M-o-M to 1.71 MnT against 1.4 MnT in Sep’18. However, on yearly basis exports increased 24% as against Oct’17 exports at 1.38 MnT.
The non-agglomerated (fines/lumps) iron ore exports recorded at 0.65 MnT in Oct’18, up almost three times M-o-M as against 0.24 MnT in Sep’18. However, on yearly basis exports decreased slightly as against 0.67 MnT in Oct’17.
Sweden exports to Germany down 31% on monthly basis
Netherland stood the largest importer of Sweden iron ore in Oct’18 at 0.39 MnT, up more than two folds M-o-M as against 0.17 MnT a month ago. Sweden exports to Germany fell 31% to 0.38 MnT against 0.55 MnT in Sep’18 followed by Qatar at 0.33 MnT.
Finland and Turkey marked significant rise in imports for the month at 0.28 MnT and 0.23 MnT respectively.
